MC Jhelum is one of three MCs of District Jhelum. Jhelum is the main town of the MC. There are 16 Union Councils in the Tehsil out of which 05 fall in urban areas/ CO unit. According to 1998 Population and Housing Census total population and urban population of the Tehsil is 516,942 and 129,440 respectively. The MC has only one CO unit (Jhelum). Deena, which has now been declared MC recently, was one of the CO units of the Tehsil earlier.

Jhelum city is located at right bank of river Jhelum at N-5 highway previously called G-T road (Rawalpindi – Lahore section). It has got a distance of 165 km from Lahore and 115 km from Rawalpindi. This is an ancient city and is a district head quarter. MC Jhelum comprises of city itself and Dina town (urban locality) along with the rural area of Tehsil Jhelum.

Mr. Fazal Haider, Manager ID & Mr. Waheed ur Rashid (Manager CFMS) visited to MC Jhelum on 13-05-2020 regarding to provide requisite backstopping support to ensure the accomplishment of certain aforementioned requirements for release of subsequent funds. under Punjab Cities Programme (PCP).

Municipal Corporation Jhelum is constantly putting its best efforts to combat the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic and to control its harmful impacts. In this situation, MC is performing various activities to stop the spread of pandemic in line with directions of Government of Punjab.

The Government of Punjab has recently appointed the Administrators to look after the affairs of Municipal Corporations all around the Punjab. Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa took charge of Administrator on 08th Nov, 2019.

Mr. Azeem Qadeer, Manager Institutional Development & Irfan Bhatti, Deputy Manager (Finance) visited to MC Jhelum to provide assistance in fulfilling the required prior actions for PCP on 12-04-2019.
